WAR GOLEM-Zooey Brubaker, a.k.a.: Seraphim
- July 17th, 1997: The First Chaos Event occurs when no less then ten armored units of unknown origin razed Paris, France ot the ground. En route to another leveling at Marseilles, these ten alien weapons encountered Archetype, a Mobile Anthropomorphic Weapons Platform and subsequently engaged by that unit. Dubbed "Archetype," or sometimes "Archangel," this unit mopped the floor with the alien forces while saving Marseilles from total destruction. Soon thereafter, a squad of similar units, developed by Dr. Moexatl Ana'Ra, PhD. Nanomechanology, engaged with other alien units that human forces referred to as "Chaos" units. For nigh unto seven years, "Archangel" and it's team of brothers, "Dæmon Squad," have held back a total invasion by Chaos.
Zooey Brubaker, RN., is a nurse working at University of Texas Medical Center. On the fateful day she became a member of Dæmon Squad, she was just coming off of a thirty-two hour shift. What she wanted most at that moment was a hot bubble bath a tall glass of chardonnay. This is when the Type 4 Chaos Unit dropped into her life. Until that time, only Types 1-3 had been seen on Terra. This was a whole new unit with considerable devastating abilities. Dæmon Squad was on the scene almost immediately, but they have their hands full with the Type 4. In the midst of the fighting, Dæmon 1 goes down.
Zooey, defenseless and alone, sought shelter with the fallen War Golem only to find the golem driver dying. With his final breathe, he handed over the Launch Keys for D1 to Zooey. An untested quantity to be sure, Zooey easily gets the Golem up and back in the fight. Not only does she handle the Golem with aplomb, single-handedly wiping out the Type 4, but also commanding the unit WITHOUT a neural interface. Of note, the Golem's AI pilot system begins to alter itself to better suit Ms. Brubaker. Soon, Dæmon 1 becomes "Seraphim," and Zooey's life, for better or worse, is thrown into dissarray…
This kinda thing happens when I read too much manga. Especially manga like "Beast 9," and "Freezing."
